BIOGRAPHY
Katherine Gregory is this year's recipient of the Eleanor Margaret Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, where she is studying for an MA with Susan Waters, Chris Hopkins and James Baillieu.

In her first weeks at the Academy, Katherine was accepted as a scholar on the Josephine Baker Trust and Royal Academy Song Circle. This year, she was also accepted onto the preparatory opera course. In RAM Opera Scenes she performed the titular roles in Bellini’s Norma, Strauss’ Arabella and Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur, Isabella in Wagner’s Das Liebesverbot and Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She was a finalist in the 2025 Richard Lewis Competition and has performed recitals at venues including the Austrian Cultural Forum.
She is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where she studied for a BA in Theology and Philosophy. During this time, she sang with Trinity College Choir, with whom she toured internationally and recorded five discs, including Duruflé’s Requiem in Paris with Hyperion/Decca, on which she performed the Pie Jesu. During her studies, she performed many roles, including the Contessa in Le Nozze Di Figaro, Rosalinde in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, and Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, all with the University Opera Society. She was a scholar on the Pembroke Lieder Scheme, working regularly with pianist Joseph Middleton. She was also awarded first prize in the prestigious Clare College Song Competition.
Katherine is sought after as an oratorio soloist, performing frequently with some of the UK’s top choirs and orchestras in prestigious venues. She made her debut at the Royal Festival Hall singing alongside the Bach Choir and Philharmonia Orchestra at the age of 20, since going on to perform with them a number of times, including performances in Holy Trinity Sloane Square and King's College, Cambridge Chapel, alongside the Britten Sinfonia. Katherine’s 2024-25 highlights include Verdi’s Requiem (Truro Cathedral), Bach’s St Matthew Passion (Westminster Abbey Choir), Handel’s Messiah (Cantata Choir), Mendelssohn’s Elijah (St Mary’s, Penzance), Haydn's Nelson Mass (Royal Free Singers), Orff’s Carmina Burana (Tring Choral Society), Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle (English Arts Chorale), Duruflé’s Requiem (Holy Trinity Sloane Square, Temple Church).
Katherine was last year's recipient of the Help Musicians Dick Maidment and Peggy Cooper Award and is still generously supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
